for PATTAYA TRADER 141 (B)

A-BOVARY-BUTTERFLY
She is a Madame Bovary,
in a ravishing lover's arms let her die;
end her life as a caterpillar,
for a day be a butterfly.

NEW WAY TODAY
The house was left a ruin
with bullet-holes in the door;
a fatally wounded grandad
and a dead baby on the floor.
A home-made hand-bomb
was meant to even a score.
A community gathered round
and heavy was their load.
No more turning a blind-eye
the folk who lined New Road.
The scared, the weak, the weary;
the drug-pushers, pimps and gangs;
all came with their empathy
and everyone held hands.
Today there'd be no burying
of heads in the sand.
